CND Vinylux Weekly Polish ($12 CDN)

7 day wear nail polish, that doesn't need a lamp or other special tools to set? Yes please! I don't know what it is, but I LOVE NAIL POLISH! It's one of those things that just having my nails done makes me feel like a superstar. I love shellac polish (when I can treat myself), and although I have a gel nail polish set with an LED light, I can't always commit to a whole hour process of getting my nails done, which is why this product is so revolutionary. Before we begin, my nail needs:

Nail shape: Oval
Nail strength: average strength
Wear/tare: I'm a mama, I must wash my hands 1 million times a day and of course doing tons of dishes on top of that every day
Disclaimer: These products were generously sent to me for as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club. See my full disclaimer here. Note I received the color "Rose Brocade #173"

The Product: CND Vinylux Weekly Polish ($12 CDN)

This nail polish claims to last 1 week - chip free with two easy steps. It claims to do this with exposure to natural light, that activates the patent-pending ProLight Technology to set the polish. All you need to do is apply the color, and then apply the top coat. As with all long-wear polish it's recommended you cap the tips of your nails with both the color and the top coat.

The Results

I really put this polish (color: Rose Brocade #173) to the test. I am constantly washing my hands all day long and of course doing dishes. I typically wear gloves washing dishes but while trying this polish combo I decided to forgo using gloves to see how the polish would last.

I have to say the polish applied great - all you need is two coats and a top coat. I found that it dried and set quickly. Below are the results of how the polish wore for the full 7 days. I was impressed that after 7 days the polish did still look very shiny, but as you can see, by day 7, only my pinky finger was chip free. I have to admit we did have quite a few cloudy days over the past week, and rain so I wasn't able to spend too much time in the sun. That may have impacted how the polish wore since you need natural light  to "cure" it.

Even though I had a major chip by day 5, I still found this polish wore better than regular nail polish. After 5 days after the abuse my poor hands take I'm impressed at how it looked in the end. Overall, I would repurchase this product.

Zoya: Sansa ($10 Cdn)

How is it that one nail polish can be worthy of an entire blog post? I had done some online research (aka google images) on Zoya's Sansa before I purchased it. The color looked lovely online, but when I received this polish in the mail I think I may have squealed in excitement when I first pulled it out of the box (ordered from NailPolishCanada).

There are a few things I love in life: purple, and gold. And well, if this nail polish was not meant for me, then I don't know what is. As far as I'm concerned it should have been named "Diana" - but I must admit I do love the name Sansa!

Julep Maven - Subscription Review

Welcome to my review of Julep Maven Subscription Review!

Product Details:
Julep products are sold at Julep and Sephora - "Julep’s fast-drying, long-lasting, non-toxic formula is paired with a high-performance, professional brush. Additionally, the brand donates a portion of their proceeds to organizations that support and empower women". Their polishes are "4 free" which means they have less toxins than conventional nail polish. Apart from nail polish, Julep offers hand/foot care products, make-up, and skin care. I had read many reviews on Julep's subscription box - and the majority have been very positive - especially on their polishes.

There are many subscriptions out there - from food snacks to cosmetics, clothes, you name it! I was excited when I first heard about Julep Maven - as it's focused on makeup, cosmetics and nail polish. I love nail polish - because you can quickly update a look with some new polish! Also, this particular subscription ships to Canada - something not all US subscription services offer.

Subscription Details:
Now to the details - Julep Maven is $19.99 USD/month including shipping. Each box has a value of $40 (or more). With the subscription, each month you have 4 days preview your box, try a new style, upgrade, and add extras. There are different box options each month - you are assigned a 'style profile' g on the style quiz you take. If you don't preview the box, the standard choice for your style profile will be sent to you (which is what I received in my test). As part of your membership, you receive 20% off at Julep.com and free shipping.

If you are interested in trying out this subscription service, they have a coupon code (FREECOLOR) for a free box (all you pays is $3.99 for shipping!)

I was assigned the "classic with a twist" profile which includes 2 nail colors & 1 full-size beauty product in every box. I decided to give the subscription a full two months before I reviewed the service. Here's what I received (for Feb and March 2014):
