AA, BB, CC creams, do you we'll keep going down the alphabet? The first BB cream I tried was from Garnier, and really I wasn't impressed. To me, most BB creams feel like tinted moisturizers - nothing special. I was recently at Sephora looking for something light to wear for the summer that would survive the entire day and provide medium coverage - and I was recommended Tarte's BB tinted treatment primer. Sure it's "primer" - but I put it to the test as a stand-alone BB cream.
Facts about my skin:
Skin tone: Olive tone
Skin type: Oily and acne prone
Problems: Occasional breakouts on the chin and cheeks, acne scars, large pores in the t-zone, an oily t-zone, and the odd wrinkle - well that's a depressing list.

The product: Tarte BB tinted treatment primer ($44 CDN)
Let's start off with the packaging - cute, compact and love the bamboo lid. The tube is 1 oz. and goes for $44 - I picked mine up in the color "medium" at the last Beauty Insider sale at Sephora (who doesn't love 15% off?!). The product itself doesn't smell all that delicious - a bit 'plastic' like which is likely from the silicone. Like most good primers, this BB creams has has silicone in it. I'm not a big fan of silicone because my skin feels trapped, and I personally think that's can't be good for your skin over time - and quite frankly the texture creeps me right out! This BB cream though, has a light consistency, and doesn't feel heavy duty.
The product has SPF 30, and Tarte offers a wide range of colors (7 in total) - and has some pretty high claims: "12-hour, age-defying, oil-free primer offers light-to-medium, buildable coverage that helps even skintone and other skin imperfections while diffusing light to minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and pores."

The results
I'm gonna make this pretty simple, here's what I thought: This BB cream delivers!! Overall, it :
- offers great buildable coverage
- has long-lasting even only oily skin
- leaves the skin looking even
- helps minimize pores
I think the pictures speak for themselves - have a look below - from the first layer, all the way to two layers after 7 hours wear (with no setting powder). Sure I'm oily after 7 hours (excuse the oil slick right on the cheek) but usually the makeup has melted right off my face - and although I am very shiny - this stuff has barely budged! I had similar results after wearing the product for 10-12 hours as well.
Summer awaits (or so I'm told - we had snow this weekend!) - and I'm ready with this BB cream!
