Skinceuticals Clarifying Clay Masque
I was on the hunt for my usual Pro-Derm Micro-Peel Masque (see review here), I was recommended the SkinCeuticals Clarifying Clay Masque by my cosmetic dermatologist clinic. Skinceuticals is the medical grade line of the company that makes Clarisonic. This is the first product I have tried from SkinCeuticals or the Clarisonic line - I believe the SkinCeuticals line is still fairly new to Canada.

Facts about my skin:
Skin-tone: Olive skin tone
Skin-type: Oily acne prone
Problems: Cystic acne on the chin and cheeks, large pores in the t-zone, and the odd wrinkle

The Product

The SkinCeuticals Clarifying Clay Masque is a gray mask that comes in a beautiful glass jar (2.4 oz). The product itself claim to unclog pores, remove impurities and balance oil production. This product can be used for all skin types, but was recommended for my oily and acne prone skin. It's recommended that you use it once a week, but with my acne prone skin I was advised to use it 2-3 time a week, applying a thin layer - this is not one of those masks that will harden, it will still remain soft on the skin. More details on the line can be found in the insert below:

The Clarifying Clay Masque contains 3 active ingredients:

Hydroxy acids: This blend of malic, lactic, tartaric, citric, and glycolic acids works synergistically to gently exfoliate dead skin cells.
Kaolin and bentonite clays: These natural Earth clays help clarify the skin, absorb excess oil and reduce shine.
Aloe and chamomile: With clinically-proven anti-inflammatory properties, this botanical soothes and calms the skin

The Results

First let's start off with the beautiful packaging. I love the simplicity of the glass jar. It's quite lovely to display! Now onto the good stuff, I use this face mask in a few different ways:

1. As a mask treatment 2-3 times a week
2. As a spot treatment if I feel a breakout may surface - for this use I leave it on my skin overnight and rinse it off the next day.

This mask works by keeping breakouts at bay, and really improves the texture of my skin. After rinsing it off my skin feels hydrated and soft calm. Clay masks can sometimes be very drying - I found this mask to be very gentle, and does not irritate my skin. I sometimes use it two nights in a row if my skin is feeling extra oily or if I have some breakouts surfacing. Has it replaced my Pro-Derm Micro Peel Masque? No, I use this as an lighter exfoliator.

If you are in the market for a face mask for acne, or just to gently exfoliate your skin I recommend this mask. I have had it for 3+ months and even with using it a few times a week I am only about half way through the jar.

Being a parent is not as easy as it sounds. If you ask me, parents are the ones who have the toughest job in the world. If you do not believe me, then go ahead and try it. Being the one responsible for the life of another is the biggest thing that you can do. I hope that all parents manage to raise their children the way that they want to. Parenting is hard, but it is a fulfilling experience.
