Sigma Makeup brushes
If you have read any beauty blog or watched a YouTube video from US beauty gurus, you have heard of Sigma Brushes. They are said to be an affordable alternative for higher end brushes. I love high-end brushes just like the next girl - but since they usually start around the $30 price range for a blending brush but I was looking for a more affordable alternative to add to my collection. I put Sigma brushes to the test now that they are finally available in Canada!

You can find Sigma brushes in Canada (with free shipping) at ObsessedLook.com.

Disclaimer: Two of the brushes listed below were sent to me for review. I have identified them with a "*". See my full disclaimer here.

The Product & Individual Results

Sigma F80
Brush: F80 Flat Kabuki ($26)

Best used for: Application of liquid foundation

Over-all Rating: 5/5

This brush applies foundation like a dream. Believe the hype - I am now a believer! I have been reaching for this brush since the first day I tried it! I've seen minor shedding on this brush (a few hairs on the first few uses) but it's still densely packed.

Sigma E25
Brush: E25 Blending Brush* ($16)

Best used for: Eye shadow blending

Over-all Rating: 3 / 5

Perfect size for blending darker shadows in the corner of the eye. I found this brushes a little stiff when you first use it which doesn't allow the color to blend out. This was my least favorite brush.

Sigma E40
Brush: E40 Tapered Blending Brush ($18 CDN)

Best used for: Eye shadow blending

Over-all Rating: 4.5 / 5

The size may look to large at first glance, but this is the brush to use to diffuse the  eye shadow. If you make a mistake and apply too much color - use this brush to blend out the color. You can not over blend using this brush! Go to town and blend using a 'windshield wiper' motion. This is now an every day brush for me. I noticed minor shedding on the first few uses.

Sigma E55
Brush: E55 Eye Shading Brush* ($16 CDN)

Best used for: packing on shadow/pigments or applying highlighter under the brow

Over-all Rating: 4 / 5

The tightly packed bristle let you pack on the color using this brush. This brush allows you to pricely place the shadown where you want it, and the densely packed bristles minimize fall-out. I have not experienced any shedding using this brush.

Sigma E30
Brush: E30 Pencil Brush ($16 CDN)

Best used for: applying shadow under the eye (great alternative to using eyeliner) or using it to apply shadow at the corner of the eyes to create a smoky look

Over-all Rating: 4 / 5

The bristles on this brush are very soft, and apply the color precisely where you want it. and helps avoid fall-out. I have not experienced any shedding.

Results

If you're looking to build your brush collection, or expand your collection, I recommend Sigma brushes. The barrels themselves were sturdy, the brushes themselves were soft and densely packed. My two favorites were the F80, and the E40 brush. I believe these brushes really give higher end lines a run for their money! I'm excited to try out more brushes from the Kabuki line!

Over-all Rating:

I'm in the market for a new Kabuki brush, and I think this one might be it. Oddly enough, my old fav old was from ELF and it would like a charm!
