Welcome to my review of Rimmel's Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm ($7 CDN for 2.5g)
(That is a mouthful of a product name!)

Facts about my lips:
Skin tone: Olive
Natural lip color: pink/mauve
Lip size: I'm lippy - no other way to say it!
Skin type: I try to keep my lips moisturized - living in a very dry Canadian climate!

The Product: Meet Rimmel's Lasting Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm ($7 CND for 2.5g)

The infamous Clinique Chubby Stick started it all - with the crayon-type lip balm/stick. Now, of course, almost every drugstore makeup brand has come up with their own version. I have heard rave reviews about some of the drugstore versions such as Revlon - but it was Rimmel that got me the most excited about their version of the lip stick. I'm a big Rimmel fan - from their nail polishes to eye shadows and eye liners - I think they're great! Over all I find their products are very good quality, and available in a wide range of colors. The product claims it is a "Lightweight long lasting intense colour and moisture... Intense... smooth lasting balm that is comfortable to wear all day." The Rimmel website states the balms come in 7 colors - but the color I purchased was not listed on their list so there are likely more colors out there. I purchased the color 610 "Sun Kissed". I loved the pink-nude, I think a great transition color from winter to spring! The packaging itself was pretty standard - like many of the lip balm 'crayons' out there where you twist the bottom to bring up the product.

The Results:
Well the results literally changed in hours. At first application - the balm went on quite smooth. I needed a few quotes to build up the color but this is expected with balm as they are usually a creamy hydrating formula that you need a few coats to build up the color. Below are the results with the balm freshly applied.

And well that's when things went downhill. After a few hours - when the moisturizing layer wore off - I was left with a stain on my lips. Although I love a product that lasts - and the color stain proves its longevity - the color was completely different than what I originally applied. This was after 2 hours having a meal, and not re-applying the product.

Over-all, the color change of the product really threw me off. I have worn this lip balm a few times thinking I would fall in love with the color stain. But every time I would catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror I thought I looked a bit clown-ish. This pictures doesn't do justice to the color it turn to - a bright orange/pink that I thought looked terrible on me. Don't get me wrong - I have some lovely bright pink lipsticks in my collection but this color is not my favorite and the fact that the color changed SO dramatically made this a "dud" in my books. I won't be trying any of the other colors for a fear of walking around with clown-lips - I'm contemplating tossing it in the trash at this point!

What's your favorite lip crayon? Have you tried the Rimmel's Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm?
