I'm always on the hunt for that one single easy to wear eye-shadow that you can just wear on it's own - especially on those mornings that perhaps I decided that an extra 5 minutes of sleep was worth just throwing my hair up, and skipping eye liner because who has time for that every morning?!

On my recent search, I decided to try out Red Apple Lipstick's Minx Eye Shadow. To learn more about Red Apple Lipstick visit my post here. Before we get to this eye shadow, a bit about my eye needs:

Facts about my eyes:

The Product: Red Apple Lipstick Eye shadow Minx ($19 USD)

This eye shadow is a pretty unique color - depending on the light, it has a little purple (plum), grey, silver, and dare I say - even a hint of brown. It's meant to be a versatile color - whether pared alone, as a transition color, or as part of an entire look. Given the mix of colors, I would consider it a universal color that would work with any eye color, and any skin tone.

The shadows themselves come in a standard pan - meant to be used to build your own collection. Red Apple Lipstick does also offer pre-built palettes as well.

The eye shadow is mineral based - meaning that it is preservative free, and offers more natural ingredients. And of course, Red Apple Lipstick is gluten free.

Ingredients: Mica, Zinc Oxide, Silica, Ascorbyl Palmitate. may contain iron oxides, titanium dioxide, chromium, ultra marines.

This shadow was a real winner for me - the color was just perfection and I find myself reaching for it to wear on its own, and paring it with darker shadows for a smoky eye. For my featured look I paired it with a matte brown transition color right above the crease, and on the corner

This if a high quality shadow and blends beautifully. I did find that you need to work in layers to build it up, as packing on too much with one application does result in some fall-out. But once you learn to work in layers to build intensity you won't be disappointed!

Now onto the price - Comparable higher end shadows that come in just a pan usually sell for $12 CDN (such as MAC). This eye shadow almost costs double the price, which will not appeal to some makeup lovers out there. Personally, I think that given this is a mineral formula, and for those with sensitive skin - this is a definite buy!
