Quo Natural Sea Sponge - Review ($4 CDN)

Face sponges are all the rage for foundation application. There are many options out and I opted to try out the natural option from Quo - a natural sea sponge for a whopping $4!

Facts about my skin:
Skin tone: Olive tone
Skin type: Oily and acne prone
Problems: acne scars, large pores in the t-zone, an oily t-zone, and the odd wrinkle.

The Product: Quo Natural Sea Sponge

Quo is the store brand for Shoppers Drug Mart. The sponge itself is your standard sea sponge but a miniature version of it. It's hard as a rock, and you moisten the sponge prior to each use. The sponge itself cleans up easily after each use with some mild soap. Once dried, it hardens again. Close-up, the sponge itself has various sizes of 'holes' because it's a natural product. Depending on what area you use, some areas will have larger holes and other areas more smooth and smaller holes.

The Results

I was excited to try this out - hoping for a descent option for foundation application. This sponge for me didn't deliver - even using it with different liquid foundations (from a water based foundation, to a silicone based BB cream) the sponge does not help blend the product evenly because of the uneven texture, and the holes were very uneven making application difficult - to the point where I ended up having to use a brush to even out the product. Overall, I would say skip purchasing this one - invest in a descent blender out there that has a more uniform texture. I'm not sure what to do with this tiny sponge other than toss it... any suggestions?

What's your favorite foundation application sponge? Have you tried Quo's Sea Sponge?

You need to try the other type of sponge...the purple one from QUO that is like the Beauty Blender. Honestly it is awesome, I use it almost everyday :D
