PRO-DERM Micro-Peel Masque: Chemical Peel or Mud Mask?

2/5/2014

Welcome to my review on Pro-Derm Micro-Peel Masque Formula ($52)

As part of a regular skin care regimen it's important to do a deep cleanse at least once a week. But what do you choose? A chemical peel or a mud mask? I enjoy both -  mud masks are so refreshing and are great for calming the skin. But I also love chemical peels - you can't beat the intense exfoliation that chemical peels are so great for. Well worry no more! You can havethe best of both worlds!

The facts about my skin:
Skin-tone: Olive skin tone
Skin-type: Oily acne prone
Problem: Cystic acne on the chin and cheeks, large pores in the t-zone, and the odd wrinkle

The Product: Meet the Pro-Derm Micro-Peel Masque ($52 CDN)!
The mask contains Glycolic Acid and three types of mud and clay. Because this is a medical grade line, you will only find it at your cosmetic dermatologist, or online. The mask comes in a 125ml jar (nothing exciting to look at) and the product smells like a regular mud mask - and well it certainly looks like one!

The Results:

Between my visits to my cosmetic dermatologist for the occasional peel I like to continue my own treatment regime to keep my skin in good shape. I was recommended this mask by my aesthetician who sold me on this being a great option for my skin - that is acne prone.

Application - The mask is recommended to be used once a week, and applied to your face in a thick layer (3mm)- which a flat foundation brush is perfect for! You leave it on for 20-30 minutes. I recommend you don't apply right near your sniffer as you don't want to exfoliate there! This is not a typical mud mask where it gets super crusty with time. You will see some cracking but never that dry feeling. Removing the mask can be a bit messy, since it's quite thick I recommend you use a warm wet face cloth to wipe your skin clean. And that's it! Once you're done, you can apply your moisturizer

I have been using the mask for about 6 months now and I love it. I find it does wonders at keeping your skin clear, smooth, and minimize pores. Because of the mud in the mask, it has a calming effect and does not irritate your skin. In all you can get about 6-8 treatments for the jar, which in call turns out to be less than $10 per treatment - which beats going in for a facial!

Keep in mind this is part of a treatment regimen - not a stand alone miracle worker! You need great products all around to keep your skin in tip-top shape. This is part of my over-all skin care routine. For me, this works well in conjunction with the Skin TX Acne Treatment.

This mask looks sophisticated, and doesn’t look like it came from China. It was a good decision that you have drawn something that is familiar with you. When you make it a point and make a familiar object as your subject, it’s easier to visualize. I really like your artistic approach on this artwork, to be honest! I am not sure if how many days you have worked for this on your sketch app on Ipad, but I was simply amazed by it! I am looking forward to see more artworks from you.
