Les Soins de Jacynthe - Skincare Review

Much of the skincare we use on a daily basis contains many ingredients - most of which I can't pronounce and couldn't tell you what they really are. One US study found one in eight of the 80,000+ chemicals used in personal care products are industrial chemicals that include carcinogens. See more details here. That's some pretty scary stuff, which was I was excited to try some skincare with ingredients that are good for your skin and your body. Before we begin, a little about my skincare needs:

Skin type: Oily and acne prone
Problems: Occasional breakouts on the chin and cheeks, acne scars, large pores in the t-zone, an oily t-zone, and the odd wrinkle

THE PRODUCT: Les Soins de Jacynthe ($130 CDN)

Les Soins de Jacynthe skincare is a Canadian skincare company founded by ​Jacynthe René, a Canadian actress and producer, and publisher. Le Soins de Jacythe skincare line is made free of chemicals, petroleum by-products, preservatives and synthetic fragrance. The line uses use active ingredients and fragrances are made with plants and flowers. The skincare line is also cruelty free. 

I put to the test Jacynthe's Trio ($130 CDN)  consisting of:

Cleansing Oil:  ($28 CDN) a cleansing and clarifying oil that is also a makeup remover. It claims to cleanse the skin, and regulate excess sebum

Floral Water ($21 CDN): a rose water spray to be used after cleansing to the absorption of the serum

Jacynthe's Serum ($49 CND 0.5oz): a oil based skin serum, containing rose-hip oil and vitamin E

THE RESULTS

I was thoroughly impressed with this skincare line. The ingredients - truly natural ingredients that you can actually pronounce, and they do smell like essential oils - not anything overwhelming. And best of all Canadian made - it's great to support local products. The glass packaging is great - a recyclable package and the dark color glass protects the ingredients from UV rays. Keep in mind though that anything with oils are best stored in dark cool places. 

For my combination skin, here are the results:

-Oil cleanser was great at removing makeup I did find I had to go in with a regular cleanser to cleanse my oily skin.

- Floral Water: Was my favorite from the line. The smell of the roses was lovely, and really refreshing especially in the mornings.

- Serum: it made my face angry - and caused it to break out. I immediately saw an improvement on my skin as soon as I stopped using the serum.

Overall, if you're looking at supporting local Canadian made products and using natural ingredients look into Les Soins de Jacynthe skincare.
