Skin Rescue - we all need some of it sometimes! Normal skin does a not exist in my vocabulary - I have struggled over the past few years with my acne prone skin. I've tried a few skin products that have really helped my skin - but with all the hype around First Aid Beauty as a great skincare line, I decided to try the cleanser meant to control breakouts. Before we begin, here are my skin details:

Facts about my skin:
Skin tone: Olive tone
Skin type: Oily and acne prone
Problems: Occasional breakouts on the chin and cheeks, acne scars, large pores in the t-zone, an oily t-zone, and the odd wrinkle

The Product: First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay ($30 CDN)

The cleanser comes in a squeeze tube, and a whopping 4.7oz which is a great value with the $30CDN price tag. This cleanser is meant for problematic skin with an impressive ingredient list (see source here):

-Red Clay: Absorbs impurities, detoxes, and purifies the skin.
-Rosemary Leaf Oil: Unclogs pores and tones the skin.
-Glycerin: Moisturizes and helps to protect the skin.
-FAB Antioxidant Booster: Combats free radicals with licorice root, feverfew, and white tea
The natural ingredients in this cleanser is what really intrigued me. Although I love my chemicals; I would love to find skincare that is more natural. The product itself does have a red tint to it, which lessens as you apply it on your skin. When you massage the cleanser into the skin it does not lather.

The Results

Well, it's back to my full strength skincare! I gave this cleanser a good week to try on my skin, and well it was a complete failure for me. I had harsh and painful breakouts appear in a matter of days, and after a week of trying to see if anything magical would happen - nothing did. If you struggle with oily acne prone skin I would not recommend this cleanser - it simply is too mild, and does not combat acne.

I don't think this cleanser had enough active ingredients to combat problematic skin - key ingredients like salicylic acid were missing. For a list of all my skincare reviews click here.

I haven't used any products from Skin Rescue, honestly. Though I've been wanting to buy some of their products and try it for my own skin, I am satisfied with the brands that I am using right now. Though I've been hearing a lot of great reviews about the brand which is definitely a good thing for them, I am contented with what I use right now! To ladies who have acne-prone skin, Skin rescue might be the one that will "rescue" your skin!
