Drugstore lipsticks are hit and miss - and at the price point that Essence Cosmetic offers, I really wondered if they could make a quality lipstick at the price - I decided to give the lipstick a try.

The Product: Essence Longlasting Lipstick in the color "On the Catwalk" ($3 CDN)
This particular lipstick comes from Essence's "long lasting lipstick" line which claims to "your lips with intensive color for several hours without drying them out ". The ingredients on this lipstick begin with castor seed oil- which is a good sign, as long lasting lipsticks are usually trying so the fact that this is the first ingredient listed (as they are listed in order of quantity) is a good thing! In all this line has 12 shades - all which are quite different. Within the range you will find light nudes, berries, and reds. I believe this is the darkest color in the entire collection.
The Results
I was very impressed with this lipstick. This picture is after applying two coats of the lipstick to get the desired color. Overall, I love the color. If you're looking for lipsticks that are completely opaque; you probably won't like this lipstick.
I did see some wear after about 4 hours or so, and it needed to be touched up after eating a meal - but it did leave a stain. |
The lipstick itself is moisturizing, but does require touch-up throughout the day to ensure that your lips do not dry out. Overall I would recommend Essence lipsticks! I will definitely be picking up some more!
